Infrastructure - Bathrooms, eco-efficient stoves and production units benefit communities

One of the missions of the Qair group is to care for people and the environment, through the implementation of renewable energy projects. In Brazil, Qair operates mainly in the Northeast region, in wind and solar energy parks, promoting local development actions for the surrounding communities directly or indirectly influenced by the projects.

In the state of Rio Grande do Norte, we created the Social Communication (PCS), Environmental Education (PEA) and Water Security (PSH) Programs to mitigate socio-environmental impacts and improve the quality of life of local communities.

With projects in partnership with the Local Economic Development Agency (Adel), we think about sustainable and efficient energy alternatives that meet the needs of families living in the Brazilian semiarid region. This includes carrying out  Social Communication Campaigns with communities and workers involved in the works at the Afonso Bezerra Wind Complex with the following themes: Safe Traffic; Project implementation phases; Arrival of the Wind Turbines. And we also held workshops on “Heritage Education for elementary school students I and II of the Directly Affected Area (ADA) of the Afonso Bezerra Wind Complex” in the communities of Cabeço dos Mendes and Oiticica 1 and 2.

In deliveries, we carry out the construction of bathrooms with septic tanks for several families; we implemented 15 Sustainable Production Systems for raising free-range chicken and vegetables, with the delivery of 100 birds and 550 kg of feed; we built 30 Eco-Efficient Stoves that propose a 53.4% to 64% reduction in firewood burning and respiratory diseases; and we encourage the development of the local economy with the delivery of 10 beekeeping kits with 80 beekeeping boxes, 15 PPE, 2 fumigators, 60kg of honeycomb wax and chisel.

Altogether, we trained more than 100 farmers in the use of these social technologies with a view to improving coexistence with the semi-arid region and the rational use of water. More than 300 families were benefited, that is, more than 1000 people affected, from the municipalities of Afonso Bezerra, Alto do Rodrigues, Pendências and Macau, in the state of Rio Grande do Norte.

Actions that change people’s lives for the better and promote local sustainable development. This is the energy that moves us.
